A few weeks ago my husband and I and our 9 month old baby traveled to Vancouver, BC to visit family and friends. Normally we live in Northern California and have access to delicious clean well water from home. Knowing that we would be away for two weeks reminded us of how lucky we are to have pure water to drink, clean, and bathe in.
Because we are very particular about what we eat and drink in our family, naturally we wondered what the water would be like at my dad’s house in BC. Beginning with our first flight, our delicious well water was greatly missed. We had to buy bottled water for the flight. Being a nursing mom I am always thirsty! But nothing could compare to the water we are used to. All other water sources seem to have a taste, which we aren’t used to.
Anyway, it turned out that my dad was on well water too, which we were super grateful for. However, we didn’t stay at his house the entire two weeks. When we were out and about downtown with our baby we became very thirsty. Luckily we somewhat had a backup plan to avoid drinking any city tap water. Firstly, we took a gallon water bottle from my dad’s house and filled it before we left his place. Surprisingly, within hours we finished it! The next best option was finding a grocery store where we could fill up our bottle with “purified water”. This wasn’t easy to do twice a day, but we made it work.
When I got home I thought about the Filtering Water Bottles that friendsofwater.com sells. Next time we travel I plan to find out what water we’ll be drinking and what needs to be filtered from it, and then choose the appropriate filtering water bottle for my husband and I.
Safe and happy travels,
Melody
