Due to cold weather in Bradford, PA, a major water main break occurred at The University of Pittsburgh last Tuesday. According to the wgrs.com article on the event, “An estimated 18,000 people have been affected by the break, with either low water pressure or no water at all.” And schools, colleges, and some businesses decided to shut down for the week due to the water outage.
Also for those residents that have access to water they have been told to boil all water because the water “may contain disease causing organisms, including bacteria, viruses and parasites. The organisms may cause nausea, camps, diarrhea, and headaches.”
The inspiring part about this water shortage is that two women who have access to well water decided to help their surrounding neighbors who were in need. They posted something on facebook letting people know that they were not affected by the main break and were happy to share their water. They said that they became very busy delivering jugs of water from their home after making this post.
