This item includes all the filter material you need to replenish the 1-tank, 2-media Chloramine whole house filter you bought from us.

This filter media should be changed every 350,000 gallons.

You can purchase just the media – or you can get a replacement tank already filled.  We recommend the filled tank for almost everybody, except dedicated do it yourselfers with time on their hands.

To change the full tank, first send the water through the bypass.  Screw off the old tank and screw on the new one. 

If you get the media only, you need someone to empty the old tank, which is awkward, as the mouth of the tank is small, and refill with the new media.    

Contains FOAM ADVANTAGE kdf-85 and also catalytic carbon – each in the variant that optimizes removal of chloramines.

The combination of kdf with carbon means that you get thorough filtration of the normal contaminants you find on a municipal system. Our manufacturing partner’s patented process for preparing the kdf means it works several times better – and longer – than kdf without that process. The filter materials remove hundreds of contaminants including chloramine, organic byproducts, lead, heavy metals, asbestos, iron, hydrogen sulfide and hard scale. The kdf takes out chemical-based contaminants and the carbon removes organic contaminants.

In addition to safeguarding your health, this whole house filter protects your plumbing and appliances from staining, corrosion and scale (that can clog flows).

If you also have a whole house fluoride tank, this is not the right item.  They are combined in another item.
