Water Softener Alternative Refill Media, Medium or Small size.

For hard water with hardness up to 25 grains:  (Higher will require more frequent changes.)

• Medium size:  change after 5 years
• Small size:  change after 3 years in a small one or two-bedroom house.

This is the media for inside your tank.  You remove the old media and put the new media inside.

Turn off the water.  Unscrew the top.  Empty the old media onto a tarp.  Put the new media in.  Reattach and turn water back on.
