With demand for water throughout the Western states of America, there is great concern that the 40 million people in Colorado will go thirsty if the state continues to share generous amounts of water with California.
Every spring trillions of gallons of water flows out of the Rocky Mountains, and much of it helps out drought affected states such as California, Arizona, Nevada and Mexico.
Colorado wants to ensure its farms, wildlife and rapidly growing cities have enough water in the decades to come. It’s pledging to provide downstream states every gallon they’re legally entitled to, but no more.
Let us hope that our mutual need for the incredible resource of water bring us closer together rather than pull us apart as a country, nation, and planet.
